They're discontinued, you can pick up second hand models for maybe $2500 - 5K

Thing with vintage studio hardware is that they never loose value, buy it now for 1,5k and in year you could put it back on ebay for 2,5k and people will buy it, so you have nothing to loose.
example, i bought vintage neumann 47 (tube mic) almost 10 years ago, paid 3,5k for it if i recall, now same neumann u47 sells for over 11k usd...crazy .
dont let me start talking about pultec eq, fairchild, vintage stratocaster and les paul guitars, the price is insane.
Only thing that lost value is studios big console and tape machine thats why ill never sell these.
p.s. you might not get along with sp1200 because it has only one MIDI input/output connector, so if you plan to use lots of midi keybaords, mpc 60/3000 will be better option, because sequencer/software and build quality is much better.
one thing i love about sp1200 is the character it gives to KICK drum, makes it punchy in mids, bright in highs, but keeps low-end untouched.
Machine software has it own sp1200 emulation, its nice, but not exactly the same as sp1200, you get about 60% of the sp1200 character, not bad for software.
Better buy NI Machine, improve your DAW if its needed, and buy better studio monitors because studio speakers are most important peace of gear, along with quality audio interface,
I been hired to mix projects in small studios with low-budget monitors and its been nothing but hustle and blind guessing how the mix will translate outside the studio.
Spending 1,5k for monitors and audio interface is much better deal then getting sp1200.sigpic

You don't want to buy an SP1200 in this day and age, you will regret it, trust me.

Other things like i mentioned, studio monitors, audio interface, and room treatment should be on list of priorities.
Then if your art makes you profit, you could easily afford sp1200 or any gear you wish.sigpic
