  • Dj Trucky has a statement to make

When is the sheep-blood within musicians and producers gonna dry out to stop trying to sound like the radio over-using 808 drums in their music, it's one thing when something is branded vintage, and it's other thing when you murder it.

Drums within a song plays a main character, and the role is so overplayed it makes me sick to my fucking stomach,

Whatever happened to a thing called 'ya own style'? Oh never mind, 50,000 Dirty South producers all sound the exact same, good luck trying to mark your name in the music industry

    Agree 140%
I can't believe how overused the freaking down south drums are, as well as sounding hella fucking tedious they also just sound shit in general. I don't understand how kids these days live with these same old beats.

That was just a fad. Being original is so 10 years ago. Haven't you heard? The new thing is repetitive copying, it's so much easier to just do what has already been done then to come up with something original, who has the time?

Electronic drums (especially 808 kick and clap) have been a big part of hip-hop since it's inception, since the early 1980's and will continue to be an integral part of the low end of any genre of modern music.

As for dirty south, each genre of music have its own style and recognizable production aspects.

funk: rhytm guitars and snyth basslines from moog
hip hop music especially dirty south: big boomy subbases that aren't achievable without synth drums.

So I dont see whats the problem ? Everyone uses 808s.

But I always prefer them layered with live recorded drums or sampled acoustic drums instead of having them as only drum solution in song, because without proper system and tuned room they just sound clicky and and you can't enjoy big lowend of 808 kicks.

BOOM BOOM CLAP.... B-BOOM BOOM CLAP.

Although i understand music changes, and i dig the new hip hop... Its the people that have no idea what they are doing creating a new standard sound that consumers are now used to.

Nothings gonna happen until the money stops flowing. Its too easy to make a "beat" in a bed room...shit record an entire record for that matter. Listen to A MOTOWN record. Thats what hip hop should be sounding like with heavier bass lines and drums.

Mic up an instrument with royer ribbons and make a beat.

No offense to anyone doin their thing. Just do what you think sounds good... not whats cool on the radio.
