AudioCard Question

Hey ssup everybody . i wann buy a new audiocard becasue onboard audiocards are shit but now to the question when i have some controller linked to the computer via usb will the latency from the buffer drop lower i mean via usb (when the new audio card is installed via PCI express ) or does it only drop when im directly got a connection with a midi cable to the audiocard ? because most audiocards only have 1 midi in and output so im guessing that the latency will also drop via usb midi in put or im wrong ? any answers would be cool to hear ... uhm i mean read ^^
